Categories:
Juneteenth was born when on June 19, 1865, the announcement of the abolition of slavery in Texas was finally given; more than 2 and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth is now a recognized US and Utah State holiday that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans.
Salt Lake Juneteenth is a FREE community event – a celebration of resilience and joy!
This family-friendly community celebration is open to the public and will be held in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City at The Gateway.
The celebration will feature a Black Owned Business Expo as vendors for the event, art exhibit, food, music, entertainment, kids’ corner, storytelling, and much more!
