Salt Lake Juneteenth

12:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Juneteenth was born when on June 19, 1865, the announcement of the abolition of slavery in Texas was finally given; more than 2 and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth is now a recognized US and Utah State holiday that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans.

Salt Lake Juneteenth is a FREE community event – a celebration of resilience and joy!

This family friendly, community celebration is open to the public and will be held in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City at The Gateway.

The celebration will feature a Black Owned Business Expo as vendors for the event, art exhibit, food trucks, music, entertainment, kids’ corner, storytelling, roller skating, movie night, barber battle, and much more!
